About The Smiley Manse
Built in 1811 by Scottish minister Robinson Smiley, and his wife, Elizabeth, the Smiley Manse has been host (and home) to a grand variety of artistic endeavors and creative characters. From the addition of a specially designed music room in 1929 to frequent visits from artistic luminaries, the Manse has been an inspiration to many.
It only makes sense that Jennifer and Nate purchased the home in 2022 to continue this rich tradition by offering retreats for artists around the world.

I love art and I love people! Since I was 12 years old I've wanted to work in and around art. First as a graphic designer and now as both a host at the Smiley Manse and as an agent to the illustrators through Jennifer Nelson Artists. I love what I do. I find pure joy in nurturing artists and helping them achieve their goals. The anticipation of upcoming retreats and our projects keeps me charged.
